Dear Lord,
Save me from the insanity that is my life this week.
When I look at what needs to get done, there is no way to do it all and do it well!
We're going to be out of the house every darn day this week.
Monday...music/art, Noah has an appointment, and AWANA.
Tuesday...Hannah and Esther have dentist appointments and then we'll go to the zoo for a bit.
Wednesday...Levi has OT, then someone is coming out to evaluate the boys for services.
Thursday...swim and gym, free community skating, Hannah starts skating lessons (birthday present), home group.
Friday...family fun day, probably Chuck E. Cheese and somewhere without cardboard pizza for dinner. Celebrating our birthday month before we officially go GF on Saturday!
Saturday...HOME. I'm not leaving for any reason. So there.
Of course, semester #7 has also started, with Advanced Accounting, Business Ethics, and Human Resources Management on the queue until May. Only 3 discussions (and replies), 2 written assignments, 2 accounting problems (doesn't sound like much...but they take hours each!), podcasts to listen to, articles to read, and 300+ pages of not always exciting reading.
Whose brilliant idea was this anyway, to go back to school? Oh yeah...mine...
Here we go! Going to try to knock out 100 or so pages before Brian gets home in 3 hours! Go, me!
Following the King of Kings wherever He takes us. Living life...simple and free!

Shutdown mode
Did you ever get into shutdown mode? You have so many things to do, and so much stress, that you don't even know where to begin. So instead, you do nothing. Or, if you're me, you play useless Facebook games or even blog for no real reason.
In my defense, I did write a 10 page paper for Business Statistics yesterday, which took pretty much all day.
I am so done with this semester, and I have been for a couple weeks now. One more day of class, 5 finals, and then it will be done with me toooooo!
Yes, Business Org and Management...I hear you calling. Yes, before I go to bed tonight, I will have written a beautiful 4 page paper for you, too. Everyone wants a piece of me...

Almost there...
5 days of class
1 project
1 paper
1 math test
1 take home final
3 finals
And then...I get a piece of paper that says I have accomplished something! Not the last piece of paper I hope to get, but still...an important step on this journey to improve my life and my family's lives.
When I started my college journey, I never thought it would take this long to get here. Of course, I also thought I would be working on a social work degree, not accounting. That was 14 years ago. And that's okay. Life changes, we change. Oh, how I have changed...I am not even sure I would recognize the person I was back then if I saw me on the street. And that's a good thing.
One thing I know for sure as I cross this hurdle and get ready for the next set of them...every day I am made more aware of all that I do NOT know. Also a good thing.
Next Wednesday, I have big plans. I will shoo the three little kids off to school. I will then climb into my bed and sleep until they come home. That will be a wonderfully marvelous day!

Random
Competitive advantage.
Learning organizations.
How much does it cost for my van to be driven one mile?
Ani difranco has what to do with anthropology?
Inverse trigonemetric functions and correct domain.
Cumulative frequency distrubution.
StatTools and pie charts.
How many students must get trashed tomorrow night for this to cease to be an educational institution?
Blackboard and not the kind you write on with chalk.
I wonder if my professor is the missing link.
There you have it...a sneak peak into my brain.
Scary, huh? :P

Four more weeks
Dear fellow college students,
There are four more weeks of classes. For some (ME!), that is exciting! It means I only have to keep up this break-neck pace of school-work-home for 28 more days! It means my hard work is about to earn me some As to add to my transcript (poor use of grammar, I know...).
But for some, this is do or die time. You've slept in too often, skipped classes because it just didn't seem to matter, not even bothered to do your homework or reading. And now, with 4 weeks left, it finally occurs to you that you are probably about to fail. Before you start to blame the professor for grading so harshly, please stop and think about your own actions and the consequences of them. I know, it's a hard thing to do. But it will greatly benefit you in the future, even if this semester has gone to crap and it's too late to bring it back.
It's not too late to use this as a learning tool, the school of hard knocks, when you are taking the same classes again next semester. Take this opportunity to better yourself, to learn that most of the good things in life are directly proportional to the WORK you put into them.
Please, for the love of pizza and wings, do not let me hear you whining about how it's everyone else's fault. I'm just ornery enough in these last 4 weeks that I might call you out on that.
Most sincerely,
The grown woman who sits in class and listens to the whiners.
Who has sacrificed and worked *hard* for good grades (they aren't free!).

First day of classes
First day of a brand new semester. I have 16 credits this time around, which is twice as many as last semester. I might be crazy, but this is the semester I could easily add a couple "easy A" classes, so I decided to go for the whole enchilada. Hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew...5 hours of classes 3 days a week is a BIG chunk of time, not to mention homework and reading. My brain's going to get a workout, that's for sure.
Some first day observations...
-Acct 101...no idea how the class will be, but it is for my major, so I hope I enjoy it. The professor is my advisor and I can tell already he is a great lecturer...organized and precise, just the way I like them. He used to be a lawyer. I can tell.
-Bsad 108...business law. This professor opened class by telling us "this is the most boring class on this campus". Um...great. Not the best opening line, but I hope he's wrong. LOL I did read the first three chapters of the book and was not bored to tears, so I'm counting that as a good sign. Possibly being in the middle of a court case myself makes this more interesting? I really liked reading all the case studies. Seems interesting to me. But what do I know...it's only the first day.
-English 102...English Lit. Five weeks each of studying and analyzing prose, poetry, and plays. Think I'm going to like this one, as long as the reading doesn't get heavy and dry. This professor doesn't seem that type though. Here's hopin'...
-Econ 100...Macroeconomics. I took the sister course to this last semester...microeconomics. Both are required for my major, and even though I abhor the material, the professor is hysterical. So, getting it out of my way, and hoping for another fairly easy A.
-Math 102...no idea how this one will be yet. I am nervous about it, especially since I learned we have to use MyMathLab to turn in homework. The idea of doing algebra and trigonometry on the computer just doesn't appeal to me. Of course, I haven't tried it yet, so I may like it. But right now I'm not happy about it. I also know I have to go at LEAST two maths after this one, and that scares the pants off of me. No, not really, but almost.
-Cita 125...a 5 week class solely on Excel. I don't start this one until November. Excel did not love me last semester. But I'm not going to panic. Yet.
Tomorrow...day #2...looking forward to it. Yes, I'm weird.
